Harveer Nigah and Keigo Hayama’s junior boys 4 x 100m relay team smashed the provincial record with their team running 43.21. They should both be very proud. I’m very proud of them too (even if they compete for the wrong school 😉 ). Despite tangling with the last hurdle, Harveer still managed a personal best in the 100m hurdles by running 14.71 and finishing 4th. Harveer also claimed a 4th in the high jump. Great work, Harveer.
Katie Brandsma continued her massive improvements this season, cracking the 60-second barrier in the 400m for the first time, running 59.57. Impressively, she earned two other PBs: one in the 80m hurdles (13.52) and one in the 300m hurdles (45.67), which earned her a 4th place finish. Well done, Katie
Sydney O’Neil cracked the 13-second barrier in the 100m by running a new personal best of 12.91, which placed her 11th. She followed this up with two other solid performances in the 200m (26.86) and the 400m (58.69), which earned her 4th place. Great job, Syndey.
Cassius Armistead literally found his stride at the BCs this year. A few weeks ago, Cassius decided to give the racewalk a try. Because of his hard work, Cassius placed 6th in the junior boys racewalk, improving his time from the EVAAs by almost a minute. Great job, Cash.
Competing in the AWE category, Noah Miller snagged the silver in the 400m with a new personal best time of 66.23. He followed this up with a 3rd in the senior boys shot put, and 4th in the 100m with a new PB of 13.87. Excellent work, Noah.
Evan Booth had a season’s best in triple jump with an 11.95 performance. Well done, Evan.
Jesse Booth, after a great showing in the octathlon a week ago, tied his season’s best in pole vault, placing 4th. Great job, Jesse.
Will Van Schagen came into form in the 400m hurdles, capturing the gold in a season’s best time of 54.89. Great job, Will. We’re excited to see what you can do in the event in the remainder of the club season.
Coming off a 7th place finish in the grueling heptathlon a week earlier, Jaimee Louwerse managed 9th in shot put. Well done, Jaimee.
Competing a year up in the junior girls category, Hannah Booth claimed 8th in pole vault and 18th in hammer. Great job, Hannah.
Owen Miller placed 5th in the junior boys pole vault with a jump of 2.90. Good work, Owen.
Marcus Brandsma PBed by about 8 tenths of a second in the 100m hurdles. His time of 14.7 earned him a school record and a spot in the final, where he placed 5th. He also jumped a new personal best of 12.04 in the triple. Well done, Marcus.

Nick Varey and Logan Sutherland had a great showing in the grade 8 division. Their 4 x 400m team placed 4th and their 4 x 100m team placed 6th. Logan also placed 8th in the triple jump. Great job, boys.
Coming off his huge gold-medal victory in the decathlon a week earlier, Konrad Rothman claimed the bronze in pole vault with a new PB of 3.90m and 7th in javelin with a new PB of 42.72. My completely biased but correct opinion is that decathletes are the best male athletes in the world. That would make Konrad the best male athlete in BC. Great job, Konrad.
Ariah Salva captured silver in the grade 8 girls javelin, 14th in triple jump and 17th in shot put. Well done, Ariah.
With a new PB of 16.52, Constance Ngo-Gaetz placed 11th in the 100m hurdles. She followed up with a new PB of 1:04.45, earning 4th in the 400m hurdles. Her 4 x 400m relay team struck gold and came to within a second of a nearly 50-year-old record. Great job, Constance.

—PROUD DAD ALERT— With a PB by 43 centimeters, Luke Wight cracked the 13-meter barrier in triple jump for the first time by jumping 13.08m, placing him 5th. The next day, he smashed his PB in long jump by a margin of 40 centimeters, jumping 6.75m and placing 4th. Luke’s 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m relay teams both broke long-standing school records with each team placing 9th. Luke now graduates from his school (Yale…the right school 😉 ) with a total of eight school records, the most held by any athlete in school history.

Many thanks to the other coaches – Kristopher, Chantel, Robbie, Fred and Debbie for the outstanding work that you have done to support these athletes this season. Special shout out to Scott for all the great success by your middle-distance crew. – Coach Trevor
