Ripping it Up in Vernon for BC Athletics Cross Country Championships

Our Valley Royals Cross Country Crew ripped it up this past weekend in Vernon facing the best athletes in the province at the BC Athletics Cross Country Championships.

Our developing athletes stepped up to a new level with Laken Olson running a fantastic race to win the U16 boys division and Jayda Tielmann upping her game in a huge way to take the 5th spot in the U16 girls race and securing a place  on Team BC to Canadian Championships. Lyla Teer also ran a fantastic race  in the U16 girls to place 6th which is a first rate performance for a 14 year old athlete. Adrianna Buitelaar ran up an age division to capture the BC U20 women’s Championship over 8K and Riley Simmonds placed 2nd in a closely contested race in the U18 men’s division.

Jonah Dyck, William Steiger,  Kai Lainchbury, and David Geiger showed strongly in the U18 men’s race as did Quinn Kenny in the U14 girls. Laken Olson, Jayda Tielmann, Adrianna Buitelaar, and Riley Simmonds all earned the privilege of representing Team British Columbia at the upcoming Canadian Cross Country Championships in London Ontario.

A big congratulations go out to all our families who participated. Well done, Royals!! – Coach Scott
