The Valley Royals Throwers kicked off their season with a series of strong performances at the 2026 Harry Jerome Indoor Meet, highlighted by several personal bests.
PBs were earned by Gavin Jhaj, Karman Bains, and Cassius Armistead. Gavin had a huge day, throwing 11.71, nearly two meters farther than his previous personal best. Karman wasn’t far behind, giving Coach Gord a run for his money with a throw of 11.13 (Gord managed 11.59). Cassius (“Cash”) and Jesse found themselves tied up at the 60 meters heats and were only able to get in the final two rounds—making for a tight and exciting finish. Cash threw a PB by almost 20 cm, while Jesse was just shy of his own best. With more throws, there’s no doubt both had even bigger marks.
On the women’s side, Maddy was our sole female Royal at the meet and came close to her PB with a throw of 8.18. She also clearly won the award for most chalk on her shirt: no contest there!
