BC Track and Field Championships Stellar Distance Performances

A big congratulations goes out to all of our Valley Royals Athletes who participated in our BC Athletics Track and Field Championships this past weekend, in Coquitlam. Our club had a great representation, and you all did us proud. With regards to the distance group, I was thoroughly pleased with how you all ran.

Our seasoned athletes represented us strongly in what, for many, was their last race before heading off to begin with their respective university programs. Maggie Epp ran a great strategic race to capture the U20 women’s 800m title while Ethan Koehn won the U20 men’s steeplechase. Zoe Unger won the senior women’s 1500m while flying the Valley Royals colours, and Gurpartap Sandhu was our U20 women’s heptathlon champion.

A big shout out to all of our  fine Valley Royals  coaches. Our developing athletes are really starting to make big strides, and we should be seeing many of them on provincial teams over the next year, as many of them were knocking on the door for the medals and running personal bests despite being at the bottom of their respective age categories.
